Rest In Power(RIP) I Can’t say I was a huge fan.But Nate Dogg’s hooks have always been pretty cool to me.I thought he was a pretty good singer that didn’t get utilized like he could of..Sorry to hear he passed away at such a early age:(
Warren G – Regulate Featuring Nate Dogg
From The Above The Rim Soundtrack
I remember when this Warren G joint dropped back in the day. Most of the cats I hung out with wouldn’t admit to liking this song.It wasn’t really cause of Nate Dogg.Warren G was a good producer but his rhyme skill were really corny.Plus it was a East Coast dominated game in Hip Hop at the time. And being that we were growing up on the East Coast we didn’t really listen to a lot of Hip Hop from the west coast before Snoop dropped.Even when he did it was just a guilty pleasure to most of us including myself. I remember going shopping back in the day with 2 of my boys.We got lucky and ran into a couple of chicks from around our way. They had a car and said they would drive us back. And Regulators came on and the car fell silent. You had people yell turn that shit off.Long story short all ears played ignorant to that request and Regulators never went off.One of my good friends at the time who would bash any west coast artist at the time.Especially Warren G, actually stole the single from this girl in school and I saw him.He was like “You know you can’t tell anybody right?”
Snoop Dogg (Feat. Nate Dogg) – Old St. Ides Commercial
Circa early/mid 90s.
A classic St Ides commercial.Nate Dogg bodied the hook and I blame him for a bad liver now.Just kidding:(
Mos Def feat. Pharoahe Monch & Nate Dogg – Oh No
This song was pretty great back in the day.Another hook bodied by Nate Dogg.I use to rock this pretty hard when it came out.I was doing a lot of grimy shit at the time. And partying pretty hard.So I related about the same clothes for days. Not some scumbag shit like 7.But maybe 2 😦
